Frequently Asked Questions
Does reflexology hurt?
Most people find reflexology deeply relaxing. While I may find "tender spots" that correspond to areas of tension, I always adjust the pressure to your comfort level. It should feel like a release of tension, never painful.
Is it just a foot massage?
No, it is a targeted therapy. While massage works on muscles, reflexology uses pressure on specific points to stimulate the nervous system and encourage healing in corresponding organs and systems.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best. You only need to remove your shoes and socks. Wearing pants that can be easily pushed up to the knee is ideal.
How long does a session last?
Sessions typically range from 30 to 90 minutes. I recommend a 60 or 90-minute session for your first visit to allow for a full assessment.
Can reflexology "cure" health conditions?
Reflexologists do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Instead, it is a complementary therapy that helps the body return to its natural state of balance (homeostasis).
Are there any side effects?
Most feel energized or peaceful. Occasionally, you may feel slightly tired or have a mild headache as the body flushes toxins. Drinking water after your session is highly recommended.
How many sessions will I need?
For general relaxation, once a month is wonderful. To address specific concerns, a series of 4–6 weekly sessions is often recommended for optimal results.
Can I have reflexology if I’m pregnant?
Yes, after the first trimester. Reflexology is great for pregnancy-related discomforts, but please consult your doctor first and let me know during booking.
What if I have ticklish feet?
The pressure used in reflexology is firm and specialized. This firm contact usually prevents the "tickle reflex" from being triggered.
What is the difference between Foot, Ear, and Facial Reflexology?
They all map the body to a specific area. Foot is grounding; Facial (Dien Chan) is excellent for neurological symptoms; and Auricular (Ear) often uses ear seeds for ongoing support.
